Hello ladies and gentlemen. I am back from my fabulous trip to Chicago and my hiatus. I'm going to be honest with you; I haven't felt bloggy recently. I feel like anything I have to say is super boring. And I'm just not good at putting out extra effort this time of year. March has always been sort of a "blah" month for me, and this year is no different. But I'm really going to try because I've been both boring AND sparse on here recently.
So. Let's start again, shall we?
First of all, work. There were rumors (and by rumors I mean we were specifically TOLD) that our office would be getting a LOT OF MONEY from the VA for our Vets program. Our Cognitive Health Institute is offering free cognitive/memory testing for Veterans. This extra grant money we were supposed to get was going to spread our services to other parts of Wyoming, as well as Idaho and Montana. I was going to get a promotion, hopefully. But alas, that will not be happening. I'm not even bummed, honestly... it was going to be a LOT of work. And I was going to have to work on Tuesdays... which I will be doing this summer anyways. But hopefully at Solitude Float Trips, and not the Institute. And I sort of prefer it that way. I love Solitude.
So that's that.
I went home to Chicago to visit my fam and hang out with friends, which was awesome. It was pretty chill, all in all. I went to Springfield with my folks, since none of us had been before and it was supposed to be a bit warmer down there. It wasn't warm, per se, but it was pretty darn interesting. The Lincoln Museum was very, very cool. I had no idea I'd like it as much as I did. The capitol building was really impressive; the architecture was so incredible.
Dave and Stacey (my brother and sister-in-law) were at home for the rest of the trip, which was neat. David and I haven't had the best relationship in the past two or three years, but we had a really awesome talk one night, staying up until three. It made me realize how much I miss our close relationship. As my friend Anna said, "Didn't you guys used to be, like, sibling BFF?" It's true. And I do want that again, so I'm looking forward to more long talks (over the phone, since they're moving to Seattle this week) in the future.
I got the chance to hang out with the aforementioned Anna Fink, which was great. We just hung out at my folks' house and drank lots o' coffee. I haven't seen her since my wedding, so it was nice to catch up. The next evening my dear Monica Prus visited and I got to meet her new dog, Tonka!! We drank tons of tea and hung out until about 1:30am, until her fiance called, incredibly worried, wondering why she wasn't home. Sorry Sean! :-)
On Saturday I drove to the home of my Bestie Westie, Molly. It was so good to see her!!!! I've missed her a TON after hanging out with her almost every day this summer. I met her adorable puppy, Moose (a chihuahua-Dachshund mix), who was just TOO CUTE TO DEAL WITH, seriously. He is such a cuddler. I'm trying to convince Molly to move back to Jackson... we'll see. Her hubs, Ricky, said he would consider it.... And since Molly and I would do our weekly shopping together and cook some meals together, it would behoove Bryan and Ricky to somehow find her a job out here so she can be my Bestie Westie ALL THE TIME.
I was really happy to go to church with my folks. Although I have always wished their church was a bit more liberal/'contemporary', I am in love with the people who go there. It was so good to see them and catch up. So many awesome people.
It was a really great trip, but I definitely missed my honey, Bryan. And even though it's colder here in Jackson and it's still snowing... it's SO gorgeous that I totally don't mind. I love living here so much. It's beautiful. And the warmer weather is coming, sloooowly. I can't wait until it's nice and sunny and not 5 degrees in the morning. :-)
So. I will start writing more. I'm going to upload some pictures of our place (since we've been here for 6 months and still haven't posted pictures). I'm going to write about my search for minimalist women's running shoes (I'm leaning towards the Merrell Pace Glove but I'm just not sure...). I'm going to complain about how fat I feel and why I need fancy shoes to run in order to get skinny, because apparently not using my other exercise equipment isn't working.
Anything other ideas? Anything I should write about? Do you have a burning question you want me to write about and do you NOT want to leave it in the comments? Go to the side bar --------------> and ask me on Formspring. It's anonymous. And there's a good chance I will blog my answer. Because I'm a narcissist.
